Henderson is Nevada's second-most-populous city, home to roughly 318,000 residents as of the 2020 Census, situated about 16 miles southeast of the Las Vegas Strip. The city traces its roots to World War II, when the federal government built the Basic Magnesium Inc. plant here. The workforce housing that sprang up around the plant became the town of Henderson, formally incorporated on April 16, 1953.
